Path on Google Maps
You can interactively draw and edit a path as a polyline. You can save the path to your computer and load it later for further processing. You can create a static Google map with your path and use this map everywhere by referencing its URL. Try it or look at some examples:- Measure Distances
Move the markers with the mouse and observe in the left panel how the distance between them changes. Note that although the line is drawn as a straight line, the distance is measured along the spherical surface of the earth.
Remark
In the starting situation, the markers are positioned at the longitudes 0 and 90 on the equator, so their distance 10'018'754 m corresponds to a quarter of the equator length. Multiplying this length by 4 we get 40'075'016 m for the equator length. This agrees with the value in wiki GIS but differs from the value 40'075.16 km = 40'075'160 m that is given in Wikipedia. I assume that the Wikipedia value is wrong and contains a typographical error of a missing 0 before 16. - Royal Way in Prague
Walk the most spectacular way in Prague. Czech kings went this way on their coronation parades, as well as did couriers from foreign countries. Thousands of tourists go this way each day (unfortunately). - Cook's First Voyage 1768 - 1771
This is a simplified path of the first voyage of captain James Cook around the world. You find an exact map on the homepage of Southseas or Wikipedia. - Border of Switzerland (approximation)
This is an approximation of the border of Switzerland by a polyline. You can improve the line as you like and then use the coordinates for your purposes.

View (Google Maps and Google Earth)
This application allows to specify exactly the view on Google Earth and visualize it also in Google Maps. The view can be changed interactively and both displays are synchronously updated. The view can be saved and loaded in a KML file. This file can also be loaded into the stand-alone Google Earth application or it can be generated there. The application can run only if the Google Earth Plugin is installed in the browser.
