Description
Route: Malanser Holz (Kurhaus Alvier) - Hübschen Waldboden - Labria - Berghaus Palfris - Chemmi - Alvier - Barbieler Grat - Stofel - Buchboden - Kurhaus Alvier.
This is an extremely tiring but rewarding hike. There is a very good description of the hike on Derflinger - Alvier (in German only).
Access
Private car:
Highway exit Trübbach/Balzers direction Trübbach-Azmoos-Oberschan,
in Trübbach direction Oberschan.
Park in Oberschan and take the Alvier cable car (see below !) to Malanserholz (975 m).
It is also possible (but not recommended) to drive
to Malanserholz where
the
Hotel Alvier
is located with private parking possibilities.
Train / bus: Take the train to the station Sargans or Trübbach, then the bus Sarganserland-Werdenberg to the station Oberschan Museum. Walk 2 minutes to the station of the Alvier cable car.
Alvier cable car with self-service: One way costs Fr. 5.- for adults and Fr. 2.50 for children up to 14 years age. There is an automatic cash machine in the mountain station. Please have the correct coins ready for payment. Please read the operation manual before entering the cable car.
